Katikati Mural Town

Known as the mural town, Katikati, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand is famous for its decorative walls and buildings depicting beautiful scenes of rich history and attracting artists from around the globe.

This small, cheerful New Zealand town is rapidly gaining popularity with its open air art, murals, sculptures and festivals.  An example of this is the Haiku Pathway, a restful, contemplative walk in peaceful surroundings.  Walkers can follow a beautiful river boulder trail where the stone has been carved with Haiku verse.

Katikati is also a popular lifestyle town where inhabitants have many small block farms.  The rich soil and sunny climate are also perfect for high quality production so fresh produce is readily available, whatever the season.  The main local crops are avocados and kiwifruit and smaller holdings of nashi, citrus, vegetables, lavender and flowers.
